The NORTH STAR fishing base is located on Magerøya island, only 13 kilometres from the northernmost point in Europe – Nordkapp peninsula.
Our facility is ideally located – near a fjord, just 300 meters from a fishing port. In close proximity, in a mountainous area, there are many scenic routes and several crystal-clear lakes rich in fish.
The facility comprises two luxurious and cosy apartments.

Each apartment has access to a large terrace and a clothes-drying room, which also offers the possibility of storing equipment.
BOATS
Anglers can use new, unsinkable, 26-feet cab boats with a diesel Yanmar 55 Hp engine equipped with:
- echo sounder, chartplotter with GPS and a VHF radio
- floating vests and lifebuoys
- fire extinguishers and signal pistols
- heated cab
- fish filleting area
FISHING GROUNDS
Although the nearby fjord allows for fishing from the shore, the effects may not be astonishing. With no doubt, the best effects can be achieved when fishing in an open sea. Thanks to the ideal location of the base – just a few nautical miles from the best fishing grounds – our guests can catch the fish of their dreams.
Depending on the season and preferred fish species, we fish on grounds of different depths (from 30 to 150 meters). The best season for cod is winter and spring – it gives the possibility to catch a fish weighing more than 20 kg. The biggest halibut, on the other hand, can be caught in August and September. The biggest halibut caught in the area weighed 220 kg!
Apart from cod and halibut, anglers frequently catch a large number of other species, such as seawolf, pollock, cusk, haddock, ling, sebastes and anglerfish.
In windy conditions, when sailing is not possible, it is advised to fish in lakes near the base. Spinning and fly fishing allows to catch nice trout and salvelinus.
EQUIPMENT
We recommend using the following sea fishing equipment:
- fishing poles 2.00 – 2.20 m long, casting weight 20 – 30 lbs or 30 – 50 lbs
- spinning wheels: multiplicators, min. capacity: 300 m of 0.30 mm plait
- pilkers 200 – 600 g
- twisters and rippers 15 – 30 cm
We advise to have a floating suit.
